Financial support for severely disabled people - the Independent Living Funds - In Wales

This information applies to England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland

Severely disabled people may be able to apply to the Independent Living Funds (ILF) to help them live at home instead of in residential care.

The Independent Living Funds provide a direct payment that allows you to buy care from an agency or pay the wages of a privately-employed personal assistant.

Your local authority has to contribute a certain amount towards your care before the ILF will agree to help. This amount is £320 a week.

For more information about the ILF, go to their website at: www.ilf.org.uk.
