Why is this important?
New and improved consumer information on Adviceguide
Date: 10 April 2012
Citizens Advice has launched a new consumer service. This replaces Consumer Direct which closed at the end of March.
To coincide with the start of the new service, Adviceguide now has a completely new-look consumer section. Featuring over 500 new content pages, you can find clear, practical, problem-focused advice on a huge range of topics from how to claim your money back on faulty goods to gym membership and how to deal with rogue traders.
And with cars being one of the top consumer problems there are also new tips on buying new and second hand cars, including tips on selling a car and how to appeal against a parking ticket.
Brand new features include interactive sample letters, 'decision trees', top tips, key points and next steps to help you decide on your next course of action.
Decision trees are interactive question and answer tools, guiding you through how to deal with specific problems. Topics include holiday companies going out of business and changing your mind about buying goods or services.
You can use the interactive letters to complain about things like faulty goods or a poor standard of work – and letters cancelling a distance sale made on the internet or over the phone.
