Sound advice on noise - don't suffer in silence

This information applies to Scotland

You can find the information on this subject in a leaflet produced by the Scottish Executive called:

Sound advice on noise – don't suffer in silence

A new version of this leaflet is currently being produced by the Scottish Executive and will be added to the system as soon as it is available.

The information in this leaflet is still correct but it does not include information about new powers to deal with noise caused by antisocial behaviour. For more information about antisocial behaviour, see Antisocial behaviour.

Please note the following amendments to this leaflet:

On page 15, the heading "Local Government Ombudsman" should be amended to "Scottish Public Services Ombudsman". The second sentence should read "The Scottish Public Services Ombudsman impartially investigates maladministration."

On page 24, all of the paragraph below the heading The Ombudsman should be deleted. It should be replaced with the new contact details which are:-

Scottish Public Services Ombudsman
4 Melville Street
Edinburgh
EH3 7NS
Tel: 0800 377 7330
Text phone: 0790 049 4372
Fax: 0800 377 7331
E-mail: ask@spso.org.uk
Website: www.spso.org.uk

The Ombudsman also has a freepost address which can be used to avoid the cost of postage:-

Scottish Public Services Ombudsman
Freepost EH641
Edinburgh
EH3 0BR

On page 26, above Glasgow Prestwick International Airport, the heading "Head of Aviation" should be amended to "Air Traffic". The telephone number for Prestwick Airport should be amended to 01292 511 107 (24hr noise complaints number)
