Scams

This information applies to England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland

A scam is a scheme designed to con you out of money.

New scams appear every day. It's very important to recognise what is a scam and to know what to do if you are cheated out of money.

The website of the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) has very useful, up-to-date information about scams. To view the information, go to the OFT website at www.oft.gov.uk.
