Redundancy - In England


With the recession, more and more people are being made redundant. If this happens to you, it can be an extremely difficult time for you and your family. You may have rights if you are made redundant - for example, your employers have to select people for redundancy fairly. They can't just make you redundant because they don't like you. If you're made redundant, you may have further rights, for example, notice of your redundancy and redundancy pay.

Some employers say that your job is redundant but really it isn't – they are just wanting to sack you without giving your legal rights. If this happens to you, you may be able to challenge your employer.
