Christmas Bonus - In England

If you are 60 or over and getting Retirement Pension or Pension Credit, you will be entitled to a Christmas Bonus. Some people aged under 60 who get disability benefits or bereavement benefits are also entitled to a Christmas bonus.

This winter, people who qualify for a Christmas Bonus will get an extra £60. This will be paid on top of the usual £10. However, although the extra payment will be made automatically to those who qualify for a Christmas Bonus, it will not be paid until January-March 2009.

To find out more about the Christmas Bonus, go to the Directgov website at (New window) www.direct.gov.uk or phone the special enquiry line on 0800 141 2591.
