When money's tight, you need to find ways to save on your fuel bills and still keep your home warm and safe this winter.

Shop around to see if you can get a better deal with another supplier, or by getting both gas and electricity from the same supplier. You can also get discounts if you pay by direct debit or manage your account online.

Find out about special grants and schemes to help you save energy by insulating your home, or use energy saving light bulbs to keep costs down.

If you're receiving the guarantee part of Pension Credit, you may get £120 off your bills this winter. Older people will also get Winter Fuel Payments as usual. And if you're behind with your payments, get advice soon. Your supplier may also be able to help you through a trust set up to help people with fuel and other household bills.
