The Government produces information about health for travellers. It gives you a country-by-country guide to travelling in Europe.
It also tells you about the free European Health Insurance Card (EHIC), which offers you access to reduced-cost medical treatment in the EU and Switzerland. Remember to check the expiry date on your EHIC before you travel. If it's out-of-date, you won't get cover. You can easily renew your EHIC if you need to, either online or by phone. You can renew it up to six months before it actually expires.
